Dr Veronica Hughson

Chiropractor

Dr. Veronica Hughson is the founding chiropractor at South West Chiropractic, Warrnambool & Port Fairy.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Applied Science from RMIT in 1991 she spent two years at the prestigious Todd Chiropractic Centre before returning to her beloved home town of Warrnambool.

Ever excited by the science, art & philosophy of chiropractic, Veronica has used a broad range of techniques in caring for her community for over 20 years.

Veronica is married with three children and her spare time is spent following their sporting and artistic pursuits!

She is extremely proud of the results of the renovation she and her husband undertook in 2016/2017 which realized her dream of having a beautiful healing environment to share with her health and fun loving colleagues.

Dr Jacqui Askew

Chiropractor

Jacqui moved from Warrnambool to Melbourne to study, where she graduated from RMIT with a Bachelor of Health Science and Masters of Clinical Chiropractic with distinctions. Since then, she has completed several post-graduate seminars and certificates in a range of fields, and most recently has completed a Diplomate of Chiropractic Paediatrics. After 9 years of living in Melbourne and 4 years practicing Chiropractic, it is time for Jacqui to move home and join the team at South West Chiropractic Warrnambool and Port Fairy.

Jacqui loves working with people of all ages but has a special interest in working with children, pre and post-natal women and athletes. She also has a keen interest in clinical Pilates, and combining this with Chiropractic treatment for sustained and motivated healthy living.

Jacqui thoroughly enjoys being a Chiropractor and is passionate about empowering her patients with knowledge to live long, happy and healthy lives. In the past Jacqui has offered her time to volunteering at the Sacred Heart community clinic, and in the Philippines at schools, villages and the Olympic training centre. She uses low force and manual techniques.

Dr. Taryn Blackmore

Chiropractor

Dr. Taryn Blackmore graduated from RMIT University with a double degree in Health Science and Applied Science (Chiropractic). You may remember her from when she did her final year placement with us. Taryn has grown up with chiropractic care in her life after first being treated as a primary school aged child. Taryn has a passion for helping people from all walks of life to experience their best health. She uses a range of chiropractic techniques and tailors her treatment specifically to the person she is treating.

Her special interests are in family care, pregnancy care and workplace ergonomics. Taryn has completed further learning in pregnancy care and is always looking to further her knowledge by attending seminars and webinars. 

When Taryn is not in practice you will most likely find her catching up with friends, sipping on a nice coffee and walking all the off beaten tracks in Victoria, so if you know any hidden walks she would love to know! 

Taryn is looking forward to meeting you all and don’t be shy to say hi!

Dr. Claire Kane

Chiropractor

Growing up in Warrnambool Claire was introduced to chiropractic early in her life. This sparked an interest in pursuing a career in the profession.

After High School Claire moved to Melbourne to study the 5 year double Bachelor in Health Science/Applied Science (Chiropractic) at RMIT. Whilst studying Claire worked as a sports trainer at a local football club and attended seminars in Musculoskeletal Dry Needling, Sacro-Occipital Technique and pregnancy care.

Claire enjoys working with community members of all ages to achieve their functional and health goals. She has a particular interest in sports and pregnancy care. Claire uses a variety of techniques including manual adjusting, low force techniques, soft tissue therapy and dry needling.

When not in practice, you will most likey find Claire outdoors with her dog, at the gym or enjoying a coffee.

Monica Curran

Pilates

Monica heads our Reformer Pilates Studio. She discovered Pilates herself after experiencing a series of muscle and joint injuries. Monica found the rehabilitative, strength and flexibility benefits to be life-changing… in more ways than one. She loved it so much that she made a career change, completing a number of pilates instructor courses. To further her knowledge, she has just completed her Undergraduate Certificate in Human Biology and plans to study Exercise Science in 2022.

Monica loves working with clients of all ages and has a passion for sharing her knowledge to assist clients in everyday life; with injury rehabilitation and prevention and the valuable mental health benefits that Pilates provides.

Monica lives in Port Fairy with her husband and loves the local beaches, cafes and lifestyle the South West offers.

 

Karen Carlin

Practice Manager

Karen is our Practice Manager and Chiropractic Assistant and has been working with Veronica Hughson Chiropractic for over 15 years. Our practice would not function without the dedication and commitment that Karen brings to the team. Her infectious smile will be sure to greet you when you visit our practice.

Karen is originally from Terang and made the move to Warrnambool with her husband Johnny and their three children; Alice, Rosie and James. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as keeping active with walking and the gym.

 

Joelle Martin

Reception Assistant

Joelle joined our team as a Chiropractic Reception Assistant on a part time basis in 2018.

Joelle grew up on a farm in the Southern Riverina NSW. Prior to having a family she worked in IT recruitment in Melbourne and as an Assistant Winemaker in the Strathbogie Ranges. She travelled extensively before taking 6 years out of the workforce to raise her two daughters Bellalie & Daisy. She moved to Warrnambool with her husband Andrew and girls in 2015.

She loves walking, enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
